With cybercrime projected to escalate dramatically in the coming years, businesses and organizations are grappling with the pressure to fortify their defenses against an imminent wave of threats. Among those, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks stand out as a particularly pressing concern, prompting an increasing demand for enhanced protection measures, and will likely continue to be a pressing cybersecurity trend in 2024.
One of the driving forces behind the escalating demand for enhanced DDoS protection is the alarming surge in malicious traffic. According to a report by a global data and business intelligence platform Statista, cybercrime is projected to cost an estimated $23.82 trillion by 2027. This exponential increase in cyber threats underscores the critical importance of bolstering defenses against DDoS attacks, which have become a favored tool in the arsenal of cybercriminals.
David Cermak, founder & CEO of Blindspot Technologies, has one solution for the problem. “The outsourced DDoS protection solution can provide desirable relief from never-ending in-house development and thus substantial savings,” Cermak points out, emphasizing the necessity for tailored solutions, urging companies to assess their fundamental requirements, especially in terms of low latency and lossless data delivery.

Moreover, the landscape of cyber warfare is evolving, with nation-states increasingly leveraging cyberattacks as a means of hybrid warfare.Kaltrina Ademi, Director at Transmit Security, highlights the rising concern surrounding deepfake technology, which involves the use of AI algorithms to manipulate audio and video content for malicious purposes.
“While traditional security mechanisms may struggle to identify sophisticated deep fake attacks, implementing identity-centric security measures can add an extra layer of protection. By focusing on verifying and authenticating user identities, organizations can reduce the risk of unauthorized access and fraudulent activities, even in the face of AI-driven impersonation attempts,” she tells IT Logs, emhpasizing the need to adopt a comprehensive security strategy.
Furthemore, the risks posed by deepfakes are increasing by the day, with Ademi citing a real-life example where fraudsters utilized AI-generated voice deepfakes to orchestrate a CEO impersonation scam.
Innovative threats call for innovative approaches
In 2024, one prominent trend gaining traction in the cybersecurity landscape is the concerted effort to tackle cyber noise, as highlighted by Czech cybersecurity startup ELLIO. Cyber noise refers to having generic attacks not specifically targeted at individuals or organizations, inundating platforms and cybersecurity tools with an overwhelming volume of data.
“The problem here is that all platforms and cybersecurity tools receive a lot of data. And in reality, the cybersecurity SOC and the NOC teams have a really big issue to deal with all this information. So our goal and target is to reduce these alerts, not only the alert overload, but also let’s say cyber noise for this company. And also to provide more detailed information about this cyber noise, which helps companies to improve the automation processes and be more efficient in their daily routine.” Czech cybersecurity startup ELLIO tells IT Logs.

In light of such up-and-coming trends, it is evident that the future lies in innovative approaches that combine advanced threat detection capabilities with identity-centric security measures.
Cloud-based DDoS protection solutions offer distinct advantages over traditional on-premise solutions, providing robust first-layer defenses that prevent malicious traffic from reaching target infrastructures. Additionally, cloud-based solutions offer scalability and rapid deployment capabilities, allowing organizations to adapt to evolving threats with agility and efficiency.
“With the growing cybersecurity threats we aim to make the safe internet more accessible to businesses in respect to the costs and presence in thousands of data centers across the globe making it available almost anywhere with assured low latency.” Blindspot’s Cermak points out.
Looking ahead, companies have to invest in proactive cybersecurity measures and stay ahead of emerging threats. By building resilience through collaboration and partnerships with experts, organizations can better defend against the evolving tactics of cyber adversaries and safeguard their digital assets in an increasingly hostile cyber landscape.
Additionally, the cybersecurity landscape is on the brink of significant transformation with the integration of AI-driven technologies and the proliferation of deepfakes.
“As AI continues to shape the cybersecurity landscape, we will see more and more organizations combine threat detection capabilities with identity-centric security measures, so that they can better defend against the evolving tactics of cyber adversaries, including the growing threat posed by deepfake technology,” Ademi tells IT Logs.
“The evolution in machine learning and artificial intelligence has provided massive beneficial opportunities for mankind alongside concerning risks and new threats. However, deepfakes are a pertinent example of how these new technologies can be harnessed for versatile malicious purposes,” cybersecurity expert Bilyana Lilly tells IT Logs.
